Job Description

Esperer Holdings in Santa Barbara, CA is looking for a bilingual (Spanish/English) Human Resources Generalist. The Human Resources Generalist will help support our HR department. This is HR Generalist role with a strong HR background and experience working in a high growth, fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for HR and enjoy helping others. This role will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the HR department and ensure we are compliant with all laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines related to employment practices.


Duties include:

  • Oversee all aspects of the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training of new employees.
  • Oversees daily oversight of human resources programs, including subpoena administration, VOE processing, UI benefit audits, and other agency requirements, compensation, disciplinary matters, disputes, investigations, performance and talent management, productivity, safety, and training and development.
  • Draft and maintain employee handbook, policies, and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory changes.
  • Ability to respond to EEOC, DIR, DOL notices of hearing and/or conferences.
  • Ability to processes Human Resources annual government reporting requirements.
  • Maintain direct oversight of onboarding, offboarding, HRIS systems, subpoena administration, 401k, HR-related payroll functions, and departmental compliance with local, county, state, and federal personnel and employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Consult and collaborate with senior leadership, upper management, and frontline managers on human resources policies, procedures, standards, and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the HR Director to develop, communicate, implement, and monitor new and enhanced HR programs, promoting positive employee relations practices
  • Manage benefits administration and ADA/FEHA reasonable accommodation processes, coordinating leaves of absence, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), California Family Rights Act (CFRA), Uniformed Services Employment of Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), and Employment Retirement Security Act 1974 (ERISA).
  • Assist in the management of departmental roles and responsibilities, assigning daily/weekly/monthly tasks to the Corporate HR team based on their strengths and areas of opportunity.
  • Serve as a coach for the Corporate HR Team, fostering a collaborative learning environment and developing best HR practices through mentorship.
  • Escalate issues and questions appropriately to ensure timely and accurate resolution, including intake of employee complaints, grievances, and investigations.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Create job descriptions and benchmark positions according to internal and external equity.
  • Develop and manage HR metrics and analytics to track and report on key HR indicators, such as retention, turnover, and employee engagement.
  • Streamline HR processes and implement process improvements as necessary.
  • Ability to manage employee relations issues and provide guidance on HR policies and procedures to managers and employees.
  • Provide coaching and support to managers and employees on HR-related matters.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Education & Qualifications

  • Conferred Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field preferred. HR Certification from an accredited university or professional association.
  • HRIS experience preferred. Experience with Sage 300/HRMS/HR Actions is a plus. Experience in a staffing environment is helpful.
  • Minimum 2-3 year of experience working as a human resources generalist
  • Strong understanding of employment law and best practices related to employment practices required (e.g., equal opportunity employment).
  • Excellent verbal written communication skills required.
  • Bilingual (English Spanish) required.
  • Salary up to $70,000/year
